yall look at this shit ad*be is tryna pull now on ppl who have outdated software:

image

(note for context: i’m all for piracy, but in this case my copy of CS6 was downloaded years ago when they were giving it away to students. i got it totally legally.)

so here is what NOT to do if you’re a loyal fan of adobe who has the cash to shell out for a newer and shittier version of the product you already paid for.

1) DON’T use your search bar to find and open the Run app

image

2) DON’T type in services.msc

image

3) DON’T find Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Services and right-click to get a dropdown menu, and don’t select ‘properties’

image

4) if you happen to click properties, DON’T use the startup type dropdown to locate the option to disable the program. be sure you DON’T click apply to finalize that change.

image

5) DO NOT do the same thing in order to also disable Adobe Genuine Software Monitor

image

if you do all of these things, this WILL disable adobe’s ability to monitor the software, and you will be forced to continue using the same older software that you already paid for instead of having to sign up for a newer, shittier version and pay more for it. so if you have lots of cash to spare and are cool with putting it the pockets of racketeering capitalists, definitely don’t do any of these things.

however, you SHOULD reblog this to spread the word, as we certainly want to make sure lots of people know what NOT to do :)

image

I’M SORRY MA'AM. I KNOW YOU’RE UPSET.

image

Pretend to be upset.

OP how could you

I hope none of my friends who use Adobe programs find this, follow your detailed instructions, and spread the word. That would be devastating!

It would.

some people are responding to this like its a joke and im going to assume u are the type of people to say “its only a 3 minute walk” when i tell them the nearest bench is too far away

also anyone who thinks “3 minutes isnt THAT bad” you will be old one day. and you will wish the bench was closer

I won’t deny that there are things about contemporary web media I don’t fully understand, but I find that the specific examples folks like to gesture toward as evidence of a growing generation gap just… aren’t that hard to figure out? Like, I remember when Macromedia Flash going free-to-use was big news, and the stuff people did with it over the next couple of years was every bit was unhinged as anything you’ll find on YouTube today. If you don’t “get” Skibidi Toilet in 2023, you probably wouldn’t have understood animutations or Joe Cartoon in 1998, either. It’s not a generational thing – you’re just boring.

#my hot take is i bet those minecraft streams with scripted drama and billion page wikis probably fuck #like it’s a medium that’s impossible for me to parse but i bet the kids who grew up on that shit are gonna make CRAZY cool art one day (via @milliebobbyflay)

Yeah, that’s another example that’s frequently pointed to whose novelty I feel is vastly overblown. Minecraft surivival multiplayer RP communities are literally just online LARPs; when I was a kid people used to rent conference rooms at libraries and pretend to be vampires, and what’s going in in Minecraft SMP is not fundamentally different. They’re doing it in Minecraft because it’s accessible, has a robust modding community, runs on every platform, and every piece of software that’s purpose-built for digital LARPing is objectively terrible.

(Granted, I don’t get much out of actually watching other people LARP, but I also don’t get much out of watching professional wrestling, so that’s probably more a reflection of the fact that semi-improvisational fantasy soap operas aren’t my thing than it is of anything about Minecraft SMP in particular.)

The only real novelty about Minecraft LARP is the degree to which all the popular ones appear to be made by people who prove to be awful creeps… but given that 90% of all streamers appear to be weird gross assholes (if the daily headlines of scandals for people I’ve never heard of with 90 million followers are anything to go by—and its a new stranger every day) even that’s not that novel in and of itself.

Apparently being a sociopath is something you agree to in the TOS for every streaming platform, right under the drop-down menu where you select your predatory mobile game sponsor of choice.

Having made the acquaintance of some of the bigger names in the local Mind’s Eye Theatre chapters back in the day, I can speak with full confidence when I say that that part’s not new, either.

One of my friends asked me the other day if I would suck one thousand dicks for a billion dollars, and I love questions like that because not only are they so demonstrative of the no-homo society we live in, but they also show a fundamental lack of understanding that some people have for the value of money. Like, do you realize just how much money one billion dollars is? Do you realize I could live my life in the lap of luxury buying literally everything I could ever want and still have a fortune to leave to my children?? For sucking some dicks?? We are talking 1 million dollars per dick sucked!! That’s just economical like come on man.

1 billion dollars and all you’d have to do is suck a dick every day for the next 2.7 years. That’s it. Plenty of people already do that. You could quit your job and literally suck dick for a living. You could suck two dicks a day and only have to suck dick for 1.4 years. You could suck 5 dicks a day for about 6 months. 5 DICKS A DAY FOR 6 MONTHS FOR A BILLION DOLLARS, OF COURSE I’LL FUCKIN DO THAT. THAT’S THE DREAM, THAT’S FUCKIN HEAVEN.

and here i was thinking about sucking dick for free

Grant O'Brien could do it in 3 weeks, and have a day off in the middle.

Thomas Paine: “I do not believe in…any church,” he declared. In a call to arms against what he called church-state tyranny in early America, he insisted that “every national church or religion accuses the others of unbelief; for my own part, I disbelieve them all.”

George Washington: “The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”

Thomas Jefferson: “ The Christian God is a being of terrific character – cruel, vindictive, capricious, and unjust . We discover in the Bible a groundwork of vulgar ignorance, of things impossible, of superstition, fanaticism and fabrication . On the dogmas of religion, as distinguished from moral principles, all mankind, from the beginning of the world to this day, have been quarreling, fighting, burning and torturing one another, for abstractions unintelligible to themselves and to all others, and absolutely beyond the comprehension of the human mind.”

James Madison: “It was the universal opinion of the [18th] century, that civil government could not stand without the prop of a religious establishment and that the Christian religion itself would perish if not supported by a legal provision for its clergy.” But as President, Madison found that, “the devotion of the people have been manifestly increased by the total separation of church from the state.”

John Adams: “the United States is not, in any sense, a Christian nation.”

I am in love w the way pre 2000s films have that hazy feel to them. hd honestly kills the vibe

I think that’s one of the reasons why “period” media that’s marketed off the Aesthetic sometimes bothers me…….like they get the music, the clothing, the cars……and yet it always feels like something is missing

like,

image
image

vs

image
image

or even compare the early x files to the reboot

image
image

something is just lost with the crispness

someone in the tags said early spn vs new supernatural and tbh 100% yes !!

image

vs

I never realized how much I missed the grainy undersaturated filing …… “good lighting” and sharpness strike again

Seasons 1-3 were shot on 35mm film

4-15 were all shot on digital cameras, a change that the network insisted on

Yeah the exact thing that changed is that all the old stuff was recorded on film and all the new stuff was recorded on digital media.

i was going to say the film thing and the someone brought up supernatural and i was like “nah” and then @aphony-cree out here dropping that bomb…. in *2005,* to *2008?* there was a show shooting on film???? god you guys MOST shows went though this transition in the 90s how the fuck was SPN on FILM

In the 2000s dramatic shows had a good shot of convincing networks to let them use film. The network still had film cameras they’d bought and maybe hadn’t gotten enough use out of before the switch to digital. Most dramas can’t be shot entirely in the studio, they need to go on location, so it made sense to let them use the older cameras while the new expensive digital cameras stayed in the studio where they were safer

Supernatural wanted the 35mm film aesthetic and hated when they were forced to switch to digital

They just recently released a 4K version of Lord of the Rings and they’re so Crisp. None of those soft fantasy vibes

one of my least favorite things about these 4k updates to films (especially ones that used actual film) is that they also go and try to do color correction. like there’s a REASON that some scenes are heavily blue saturated. that wasn’t purely an effect of using film, but also a choice during the editing process. color is just as important to a movie as anything else.

it’s the exact reason why the matrix was shot with blue heavily filtered out to give that greenish-gray appearance, which added to the feel for a grungey dystopian machine-ruled future. The 4k version of it still has that there for the most part, but you can tell they did some color correction too and it throws off the entire vibe.

not to mention 4k updates of older movies REALLY makes the CGI stand out in a bad way and often times reveals imperfections in makeup that they knew, at the time, wouldn’t be noticed once everything was edited and it hit the big screens.

There’s something a theatrical costumer told me about, the 10 foot rule. As long as the costume can pass muster from 10 feet away, it’s good enough. Too sharp attention ruins the illusion.

Sacrificing film techniques for capitalist re-release since 4k.

As always, the Irish speak nothing but facts.

How many more innocent civilians have to be killed by Israel before you condemn that for it?

That is a genocide.

That this is a crime on all accounts.

And deserves to be punished to the full extent off the law.
